Vertex Exotics Flower Standards

Flower grading that looks past the THC number.

Every batch tells a story before it hits the menu: structure, nose, cure, flavor, smoke quality, and the final experience. The Vertex Flower Grade turns those details into a simple 10-point score customers can actually understand.

01

Judged like flower, not just lab data.

COAs help verify potency and compliance. The Vertex Flower Grade focuses on the sensory quality customers notice first: freshness, structure, aroma, flavor, and smoke.

02

Built around aroma, flavor, and effect.

We classify flower by real-world profile: gas, dessert, fruit, haze, tropical, floral, kush, and rare exotic expressions.

03

Designed for faster shopping decisions.

Product descriptions can show the full score breakdown, while product tags can show the total grade so customers can compare batches quickly.

Real Vertex Examples

Quality tiers should feel obvious at a glance.

Strong product photos, quality tags, and short grading notes help shoppers see the difference between top shelf, premium flower, daily drivers, and value options.

Emerald Cup–Inspired Education

Modern flower judging is about more than indica, sativa, and THC.

The Emerald Cup and SC Labs helped popularize a more useful way to understand flower: group cultivars by terpene expression, aroma, flavor, and expected experience. Vertex uses that spirit as education, then simplifies it into a customer-friendly 10-point grade.

Class 01

Jacks + Haze

Bright, piney, hazy, citrus-forward, and often more daytime-style. Common shopper language: energetic, creative, cerebral, and uplifting.

Class 02

OGs + Gas

Fuel, diesel, kush, pepper, citrus, and deep gas. This class should be judged by nose, depth, punch, and how clean the finish feels.

Class 03

Desserts

Gelato, cake, dough, cream, vanilla, pastry, and sweet citrus. A great dessert batch should carry aroma into flavor.

Class 04

Sweets + Dreams

Berry, grape, candy, fruit, soft wood, and relaxing sweetness. These strains need smooth flavor, clean cure, and lasting aroma.

Class 05

Tropical + Floral

Tropical fruit, floral sweetness, soft aromatics, and smooth finish. These profiles should feel fragrant, fresh, and expressive.

Class 06

Exotics

Rare terpene combinations that do not fit the usual boxes. Exotic flower should feel unique, memorable, and hard to replace.

The 10-Point System

What goes into the final flower grade.

Each batch can earn up to 10 points. A flower does not need to be the strongest on the shelf to grade high. It needs to deliver a complete, premium experience.

9.2 /10 Flower Grade

Reserve / Top Shelf

Score Meaning

How to read the grade.

A lower score does not automatically mean bad flower. It may simply mean the batch is better suited for value buyers, daily use, smalls, shake, or budget ounce deals.

9.0–10

Reserve / Top Shelf

Excellent bag appeal, strong nose, clean cure, expressive flavor, and a standout experience.

8.0–8.9

Premium

High-quality flower with strong performance in most categories. A reliable pick for most customers.

7.0–7.9

Daily Driver

Solid smoke with good value. May have smaller buds, softer nose, or less complex flavor.

6.0–6.9

Value / Utility

Budget-friendly flower, smalls, shake, or batches where price is the main advantage.

Profile Context

Different flower types should be judged differently.

A fuel-heavy OG, a creamy Gelato, and a tropical sativa should not all be judged through the same lens. The grade measures how well the batch delivers its own profile.

OGs & Gas

Fuel, pepper, citrus, kush, diesel, heavy nose, deep finish, and strong classic character.

Dessert

Cake, gelato, cream, dough, vanilla, pastry, cherry, sweet citrus, and smooth finish.

Fruit & Candy

Berry, grape, apple, tropical fruit, candy sweetness, and colorful terpene expression.

Jacks & Haze

Pine, haze, spice, citrus, bright aromatics, and daytime-style strain identity.

Tropical & Floral

Tropical fruit, floral sweetness, soft aromatics, and lighter expressive terpene direction.

Value Flower

Judged with price in mind. Smaller buds or softer nose can still be a good buy when the value is right.

Our Review Process

How a batch earns its grade.

We review every batch with the customer in mind. The goal is not to overhype flower. The goal is to describe it honestly so customers know what they are buying.

01

Visual Inspection

We review nug structure, trim, frost, color, density, and whether the batch matches its quality tier.

02

Aroma Check

We evaluate first impression, broken-bud aroma, terpene loudness, freshness, and profile accuracy.

03

Cure & Texture Review

We check moisture balance, grind feel, stickiness, dryness, and whether the flower feels properly cured.

04

Flavor & Smoke Evaluation

We judge whether flavor carries through and whether the smoke feels smooth, muted, harsh, or memorable.

Flower Grading FAQ

Common questions.

Is the Vertex Flower Grade the same as THC percentage?

No. THC or THCA percentage is only one part of a product. The Vertex Flower Grade focuses on total flower quality: appearance, aroma, cure, flavor, smoke quality, and experience.

Does 10/10 mean the strongest flower?

Not always. A 10/10 means the batch is exceptional across the full experience. Some strong flower may score lower if the cure, flavor, aroma, or smoke quality is not on the same level.

Can value flower still be good?

Yes. Some flower is priced lower because it is smaller, less visually perfect, or softer in aroma. The grade helps explain the difference so customers can choose between top shelf and value with confidence.

Where will I find the grade?

The total score can appear in product tags when available. The full scoring breakdown can be listed inside the product description.
